Holli Kemmer presented an updated MOA for the Kite Festival transition with dates reflecting the change to occur on Jan 2015.  WSIKF MOA

Holly Beller asked if there was any difference in a 501C3 and 501C6 in regards to how the event will be funded or impacts to benefit of local businesses, wonders if WKM could be both types of non-profits to ensure funding and longevity of the event and benefit to our local businesses.

Ruth Ann asked that an attorney review the MOA and especially to be careful with any claims that should arise through insurance for the years in which LBMA held the finances for the WSIKF.  Needs to address who is assuming responsibility for any and all claims.

Jim asked that we also have clauses within the MOA regarding the ownership of any trademarks, licensing, branding, etc.

Need proof of insurance from WKM by Jan 1.

Jane Holeman requested that she receive the minutes from the meeting in which the vote for this occurs so that they may properly re-assign bank signatory, etc.

There was discussion about the trailers and that WSIKF typically reserves the majority of the use of the trailers and how that impacts the condition, the charges that they will incur, ect.  Holli suggested that we utilize a check in and check-out list to ensure that the trailers are left in good condition after each event.  Holli asked what kind of maintenance is being addressed for the trailers.  There was a recommendation to charge a deposit each time the trailer is used, but that was not seen as feasible since only LBMA volunteers use the trailers and we don’t want to charge volunteers for such things.  Also, events basically share funds through the LBMA and charging one event may hurt another.

The OMG Radio contract for 2015 was signed.  2015 OMG Contract

We need to find a new president for 2015.  Myron Barnum has stepped away due to family health reasons.  Our 2015 VP Clint Carter is undergoing a triple by-pass but is expected to have a full recovery and will be able to fulfill his office.  There was a suggestion that we ask him to step in as president for Myron.  Ruth Ann also has an idea for president.

2015 Budget was presented.  Costs for merchant storage and trailer storage need to be separated.  Line item for community involvement will remain the same as 2014.  2015 Budget Draft

    • Jay Personius with Port of Peninsula has entered into an economic development program. Study done within port district (Seaview to Nahcotta) says that an event center within the area is needed.  Proposal with the Trails assoc about hosting a large gathering – just not feasible for room counts and break out rooms, etc.  Long Beach completed research on this 20 years ago which Jay has a copy of.  Port would like to finance the project themselves or in conjunction with another entity.  Need is for 300-350.  Gene Miles is concerned that we don’t have the ability to serve large groups during the summer months.  Ruth Ann Hocking was involved 20 years ago and has some information to share with Jay.
