New Business:
1. Boyd Keyser (Superintendent of the Ocean Beach School District): Lobbied the group to ask local voters to vote for the School Levy on this year’s ballot.
2. Rodeo Club : The Rodeo is the weekend of the 24th and 25th of July. There will be a parade in Long Beach starting at 6:30PM on the 23rd. Long Beach businesses are asked to dress for the theme of the weeked.
3. Pacific County Health Department: Melissa Sexton presented issues for the County and the Long Beach Peninsula in reference to the use as well as the production and sale of Methamphetamines. It is a local problem, The County has a Meth Task Force and it has had some successes. Call the Drug Tip Line 360-642-9440 if you see or feel like something is not right and you think it is associated with drug activity.
4. Toastmasters Club: Jenna Austin announced that Toastmasters is starting an organization supporting the Long Beach Peninsula. First meetings are at the Ilwaco Community Room. For more information call 360-642-2152.
5. Mayor Bob Andrew discussed the Heritage Area project, that it was delayed or postponed; but, all should not forget to eventually keep it moving forward when it gets going again.

Committee Reports

1. Beach to Chowder: Great success. There was a preliminary count of 342 participants.
2. Doggie Olympics: Close to 80 dogs, great day, smooth running. A recommendation was made to have First Aid Kits at events.
3. Sandsations: Set to start next week. Tuesday of next week the solo sand artists arrive for the Sand in the City.
4. Jake’s Birthday: Reported that everything is on track.
5. Kite Festival: They will need volunteers for the T-shirt booth. More people are needed for executive committee. The final posters are being mailed out and local posters are being delivered. Everything is still on track for the festival start.
6. Holidays @ The Beach: On Schedule.
7. Blue Grass Festival: No Report

9. Kite Museum: No Report
10. Loyalty Days: request for military band participation already going out. Marysville visit with Loyalty Days Float, won and award, on TV, student participation for school supplies….etc.

13. Farmer’s Food Market: starting up
14. July 4th Ocean Park parade, bus tours, beach vacation planner at PDX airport, only ones. German media for the night. NTA (nat’l tour association)
15. LTAC Liaison: Budget template for LTAC funds discussed for 2011 budgeting
16. Liaison to Ilwaco/Ocean Park: Blues and Seafood discussed. The Tuna Classic is ready. Ocean Parks Garlic Festival went well. Sunday’s weather dampened things; but, turnout was great. Buzy Bees is going out of business. July 4th parade went well. Twenty tons of “post July 4th” trash was picked up.on the beach.

Thank Ilwaco merchants for fireworks donation looking to build cash reserve for next year. Clint went to another Blues Fest to spread the word shirts are already selling online. Saturday market 52 booths sold out. O.P. flag person resigned O.P. still putting out smaller flags. PAA reception. Art in the Park June. Thanking loyalty days committee for George Washington.  They would like to see this happen every year, Lincoln was a hit too.
ANNOUNCEMENTS (2 min)
Wayne O’del volunteered for Secretary!! also spoke about LTAC, QR codes evolving project good reports about usage hoping to get revenue from that Plan for LTAC 5 year plan how to spread out the tourism bubble or increase the main bubble. He wants to talk about strategic visions along with measurable goals to increase this in the future. Where the most important investment will be. Keleigh thanked the merchants for donations to the QR codes prizes.  Response to the QR codes comes in via cell phone so they are short sweet and positive.

Garbage day- Held at the old co. building, filled 6 containers, would like to do this twice a year beginning and end of season. Looking for volunteers to man the station as city paid time and a half plus holiday pay to city workers who manned the station this time.

Gayle will ask Chinook for a little chunk of the newspaper to ask for volunteers for various events and non profits, a place to connect volunteers with those needing them.

NEW BUSINESS Qr codes for businesses are available.  If you have any questions, please contact Beach Dog regarding same; Ned Bettner, Coach for the Girls Basketball team, from Ilwaco High School is needing sponsors.  He may be reached at 360 244-0263.

Diane Barker-Sayce made a Motion and Jane seconded that Long Beach Merchants Association be a sponsor for the Ilwaco High School in the amount of $200.00.

Melody Johnson and Ragan Andrews spoke about the Package Travel Program and invite the merchants to participate; she emphasized that having the tourists stay one night would generate a minimum of $12,0000.00 and $15,000.00 not including them visiting other businesses.  When guests are arriving on the motor coaches and arrive at the destination at Long Beach they will be greeted by a “red carpet, if the Mayors schedule permit he will be greeting same; journals for them to write down the highlights as well as to “tweet” their experiences on face book.  There is a website that she let us www.longbeachpackagetravel.com.  When you register there will be a password that you are given and able to review the intineraries.  In November there will be a national tourism show in Canada there are about 400 to 500 tour operators attending same.  Ragan Andrews and Melody Johnson will be meeting with at least 160 of them within the five day time.   What is the niche for us to have the tour operators remember./…. They are in production to give Miss Sandy Beaches a sassy razor clam stuffed animal type.  They will be sending a CD and a letter as well as Miss Sandy Beaches.  Merchants will be in the know of who will be visiting and their itineraries.  They want 15 tours and by next year they want 30.

New Secretary for the Merchants Association to have a new secretary take over the position as the current secretary, Paula Mraz will be moving to Portland.

Merry Scharfe looking for volunteers to put up flags; Bob gave a status on the Heritage area; the 19th district needs to see emails for the support; no pushback from the Oregon side. Asking businesses organizations non-profits those who wish to support the heritage area and get those legislator supports; please contact Bob Andrews and Gail Borchard; Diane Barker-Sayce made a motion and Merry Sharfe seconds to send a letter for the support.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Blue Grass Festival – Ruth Ann Hocking- gave an update on the festival.  Ruth Ann was able to speak with the people.   They are already booked for 2011 and people wanting to book for 2012.
Beach to Chowder Run/Walk- Paula Mraz/Sherry Hash – update on Beach to Chowder moving forward
Doggie Olympic Games – Mike Litawa has taken over as chair met with the volunteers on Wednesday, brochures going to print; the volunteers are very dedicated and are pulling together.
SandSations  – Becky Johnson– not here today no report given.
Jake’s Birthday  – Wendy Murry – has flyers and information with revised dates; met with vintage road side
Kite Festival -Jane Holeman– has brochures if not received; travel arrangements made for all the guests.  Event program will be coming out on August 1st.   Requesting for someone to be the pickup area for the posters.  If anyone is interested please contact Jane Holeman at
Holidays at the Beach  – Holly Beller – continue to work on advertising to be put on the list as volunteer she would be happy to have on board

OTHER REPORTS   (15 min)
Kite Museum -  Kay Buesing  – new exhibit ; gearing up for the kite festival; called the
auction under the big top.  Jane Holman has 200 red noses and given out for a special event.  If you prebuy your ticket you receive the “free” red nose.”  First buggy ever made that pulled the kite it will be here for the event.
Loyalty Days  – Bob Andrew – Great Success; President George Washington was the guest speaker; for the most part went smoothly; already receiving volunteers; next year the loyalty day will be May 1st 2011.  Ragan Andrews and Lacy DeWitt are already working on the float; will be taking to other festivals; the Astoria  Regatta court has partnered with the loyalty days.  Thanked everyone for participating.
Surf Perch Derby – Dale Jacobson – not here today.  Will be taking place on May 15th anyone interested just be down on the beach at 7:00 am on said day.
SummerFest  – Ragan Andrew – three weeks ago emailed the May/June schedule to all.  Please print out and have available for guests.  They will be having several unique events for all that were not available last year;
Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau – Kay Buesing – at the last meeting the main topic was the Lewis and Clark committee
Liaison to Long Beach City Council – Jerry Phillips-  not here; Jean spoke on his behalf that the gentlemen work for the city to keep   it clean and do an awesome job.  They will be purchasing a new street cleaning; appreciate everyone’s support;
Liaison to Ocean Park, Ilwaco [Dave Little] up in ocean park looking for volunteers cleaning the lots that are not maintained by property owners; not having much engineering work; Rebecca Bison will be having the 4th of July flags. Working on adopting a planter project; asking the merchants to adopt a planter and take care of same.
Ilwaco there are up to 375 on facebook.  Fireworks funding a little behind on same; attempting to find more funding; putting out a can for donations; they are around 3k short; they will be putting a booth up at the kite festival maybe sell  t-shirts; funding for the lighthouse 1.5 million to have it  updated.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Blue Grass Festival  – Steve Linhart spoke on Ruthann Hocking’s behalf  the event was very popular and successful.  Mayor Bob mentioned that Ruthann Hocking already has the bands booked for next year; far as revenue they are in the black.
Beach To Chowder Run/Walk – Paula Mraz/Sherry Hash reported they are moving forward getting closer to the deadline
Doggie Olympic Games – Brandy Ferguson has resigned as the chair for Doggie Olympic. Next Friday there will be a LBMA meeting, and if there is no one there to take over Brandy’s spot, the Doggie Olympics will not happen this year. Steven Linhart is meeting with her today, Friday, April 9, 2010, to gather all information
SandSations – Becky Johnson reported they are all set up lot between funland and police station;  4 solo artists coming in  as well as a master team and a Christmas display for people to have pictures taken for Christmas cards; set up for online registration for payment; Regan has scheduled the  music; received more revenue and they are now $800.00 in the red vs.  2k in the red.
Jake’s Birthday – Keleigh Schwartz-  There will be two separate day for this event. One for kids and one for 21 years and older that will be held at the Elks Club. The pricing has not been stated yet, but we will be updated as soon we know.
Kite Festival – Jane Holeman was not present. Merry Scharfe spoke about the kite festival. Everything seems to be on track; t-shirts; vendors coming in.
Holidays at the Beach – Holly Beller sent out confirmations to Santa Jim and Mrs. Clause; passing out extra rack cards to events around town
LBMA Holiday After Hours- Ruth Ann Hocking proceed as normal despite the fact that Ruth Ann was not present.

OTHER REPORTS
Kite Museum – Sherry Hash spoke due to Kay’s absence. Instructions for two line kites he can provide kites for people giving lessons on the beach approach. This will more than likely be the last Saturday, April 10, 2010.
Loyalty Days – Bob Andrew reported all the scheduled events are mostly finalized. April 17th will be the coordination program. Have 8 bands for the parade; street closed in the morning and open in the afternoon.
Surf Perch Derby – Dale Jacobson reported that the derby started out as a city and its at its 10th year; applications are coming in; he will not be able to attend this year.
SummerFest -  Ragan Andrew was not present. But the general consensus is everything is okay.
Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau – Kay Buesing not here; Keleigh Schwartz will be speaking; continuing discussion on 4th July on how to make it safe and fun; business as usual; had the election; visitors are slightly up and web visitations  to website are up; and all are looking up for a great summer
Liaison to Long Beach City Council  – Jerry Phillips reported on a couple things one the  liaison for the saddle club they will have a parade for the rodeo; and  approaching the merchants to participate i.e. dress up. Keleigh Schwartz has updated the website for the city and hopefully the site is more user friendly; new website for Regan for the tour bus operators – one is a German group and the other consists of a one hour tour.

Liaison to Ocean Park, Ilwaco -  Dave Little reported –Ilwaco came up with a new marketing plan! Look for discover Ilwaco on Facebook. Blues and seafood have a kick-off the night before event in August.
Ocean park – continuing having visitors visit and having telephone calls inquiring; rod run is on; continuing to work on the walking trail; new event art in the park beginning July 4; Garlic Festival moving forward they now have two bands; an appeal has been filed regarding sunset view turning into a rehab center; bay avenue gallery has been opened; they are done with advertising this year;.
