October 5, 2007 Minutes

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

The meeting was called to order by President Andrew. Stephen Linhart moved last month’s minutes be approved as-is. Mikel Burns seconded that motion, and the motion carried. Mikel Burns made the Treasurer’s Report. Gayle Borchard reported that approximately 220 requests for 2008 dues were sent out in mid-September, and Mikel Burns reported that approximately 25 members had submitted their payment to date. First to pay their dues was Shelly Pollock – a new member. Thanks, Shelly!

Bob Andrew presented the following OLD BUSINESS items:

1. All event/festival chairs must submit their budget requests to the LTAC committee as soon as possible, if they had not done so already.

2. The LBMA now has a blog site up and running at http://longbeachmerchants.com/ this site will include minutes plus provide an opportunity for board members to express themselves and communicate important information with one another.

3. October 5th and 6th were the first two planting days of the Peninsula Gateway Beautification Project. The anticipated next planting days for Stenlin’s corner will be delayed until November (current expectation) due to a minor slip in the State DOT schedule or their work at that location (which precedes the Gateway Project’s work).

4. Three Board Member positions and all Officer positions –President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer – are open. Those wishing to nominate Board Members or Officers should send their requests to Gayle Borchard at borch@independent-books.com or 642-8561 by the end of October, so the slate can be finalized. Stephen Linhart will continue to serve as LBMA’s Community Liaison, a non-elected position.

New Business: None.
