Washington State patrol to increase patrols during Memorial Day weekend
LONG BEACH, Wash. – Washington State Patrol troopers will be out in force during Memorial Day weekend searching for drivers who are putting other motorists at risk.
From Friday through Monday approximately 75 extra troopers will patrol the roadways looking for drivers who are speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and those who fail to buckle up. Troopers will also be on the lookout out for vehicles carrying unsecured loads.
Members of the public are encouraged to call 9-1-1 if they spot aggressive or impaired drivers. The license plate number and a description of the vehicle will be helpful in assisting troopers in locating the offenders.
The WSP will also be using aircraft to crack down on aggressive and impaired drivers. Pacific and Wahkiakum counties will have three additional troopers to focus on DUI and seat belt violations on May 22, one additional trooper to focus on speeding violations Saturday and one additional trooper to focus on speeding violations Sunday.
